THE EVENT AIMED TO CREATE AWARENESS AND ENABLE PEOPLE TO MAKE EVERYDAY SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE CHOICES. OVER 30 ECO-CONSCIOUS BUSINESSES AND GROUPS SHOWCASED PRODUCTS INCLUDING CLOTHING, HOME ACCESSORIES, FURNITURE, HEALTH PRODUCTS, STATIONARY, BUILDING MATERIALS, TOYS AND ORGANIC FOOD PRODUCTS. IN ADDITION, SEVERAL INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES WHERE ALSO AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE DAY, SUCH AS A GREENING YOUR HOME EXHIBIT, ECO STUDENT COMPETITION, AN ORGANIC FARMER’S MARKET, ECO FASHION SHOW AND SEVERAL WORKSHOPS AND LECTURES.
ENCLAVE AND FAR JOINED FORCES TO BRING PECHA KUCHA GREEN TO SHANGHAI, IN ITS NEWLY COMPLETED SUSTAINABLE WAREHOUSE (ANKEN GREEN).
AROUND 500 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE EVENT WHICH WAS ENTIRELY DEDICATED TO SUSTAINABILITY AND GREEN DESIGN: NOT THE EXTRAVAGANT FUTURISTIC KIND, BUT SIMPLE DOWN TO EARTH SOLUTIONS. HELD IN THE STILL “UNDER CONSTRUCTION” ANKEN GREEN PROJECT, THE EVENING FEATURED A GREEN EXPO (SHOWING THE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS OF 16 INNOVATIVE COMPANIES), A GRAPHIC EXHIBITION OF “10 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR DAILY HABITS MORE SUSTAINABLE”, AN ORGANICALLY GROWN VEGETABLE BARBEQUE, A FASHION SHOW OF CLOTHES MADE OF RECYCLED MATERIALS AND OF COURSE THE USUAL 6 MINUTE AND 40 SECONDS SPEAKER SERIES.

Trained as an architect (PHD from University of Tokyo), the work of Nadim Karam and his company Atelier Hapsitus has received world-wide recognition on exploring the boundaries between art, architecture and urbanism. Exhibited widely and much admired in Japan (Nara, Nakomeguro, Tokyo), Paris, Prague (Manes Bridge), Kabul, Korea, Berlin, Washington, London (Notting Hill) and Beirut, these pre-archaic, mysterious, humorous and timeless figures have enthralled and enriched the lives of their worldwide congregation and provide good examples for public art which is sensitive as well as inspiring to the urban environment. Nadim is also the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Art & Design at Notre Dame University in Lebanon.
“Travelers” is the name of a project to be built in 2006 in Melbourne’s Sandridge Bridge.

Translated from the Japanese term, Pecha Kucha or irritating chatter involves a night of no more than 15 participants each who presents 20 slides for twenty seconds each. The idea is to offer any audience a dazzling range of speakers and images in the course of one evening, combined ofcourse with drinks, music and images.

On 23 November 2006 in conjunction with Austcham Shanghai (Australian Chamber of Commerce), ENCLAVE hosted speaker – Phillip McDonald, Head of Business Development, Asia, Deacons, in its newly renovated ANKEN warehouse.
The lecture titled The Basics of Networking: Talking Business Effectively focused on the basic principles of business networking ranging from the development of a networking strategy to identifying managerial styles and approaches.
On Thursday 25 January ENCLAVE hosted its first Business Development Seminar titled “The Legal Aspects of Doing Business in China” at its renovated ANKEN Warehouse.
The key speakers included lawyers Michael Wadley, Holly Te, Sandra Costas and Georgina Wu from Wadley Business Consulting. The topics ranged from Offshore vs. Local Company Operations to Strategies for Bringing Capital to and from China.
The speakers, with their broad base professional experience in the Chinese, Australian, US and European markets were able to manage a highly practical lunch time Q.A session for the tenants and guests of ENCLAVE and ANKEN Warehouse.
